Our house. A loft, but not lofty. Cute, but not kitschy. Cool, but not cold. And close to absolutely everything. Near the center of town, yet tucked away from it all, Woodstock Haven is set back from the road on four private acres. We’re within walking distance to the NYC bus, so no car is necessary. But if you have wheels, we have off-street parking.
Rustic on the outside, sleek on the inside, it’s a modern oasis replete with soaring cathedral ceilings, nine-foot tall southerly windows, reclaimed cherry floors, stainless steel appliances, a deep soaking tub for two, plus free wi-fi. Lie in bed and gaze at the stars through three large picture windows at your feet. Stretch out on the chaise by the fire with a throw and a book. Watch the sun make kaleidoscope patterns on the floor as it passes through our glorious 10-foot tall gothic stained glass window. Or retreat to the meditation room with its softly flowing tapestries and many, many pillows.
Should you venture away from paradise, the town, the swimming hole, restaurants and shops are only a few steps away. Hop on one of our bikes and peddle Woodstock’s quaint village roads. On your way through town center, stop at the local farmer’s market, flea market or one of two organic supermarkets and fill your baskets to the brim with fresh fruits and produce. If free-range chicken and organic beef are in your diet, stop at the Woodstock Meats, too. If yoga is your thing, try the Woodstock Yoga Center. All are within easy walking distance.
Afterwards, return to the Haven and enjoy a glass of wine on the deck and listen to the shushing of the trees. Perhaps you’ll have a visit from one of our deer, turkeys, rabbits, red tailed hawks (bad news for the bunnies) or fox. Take advantage of our yoga and pilates dvds; or book a private training session or massage here with Eva Huie, an holistic massage therapist and nutritionist who just moved in next door. (646-220-2138). A short walk through our woods will lead you to Eva’s beautiful massage studio.
Make scones in our chef-quality convection oven. Barbeque on the grill. Find a spot in the garden and watch the bees. Snooze in the hammock. Wend your way through our woods. Our home truly has everything you need for a relaxing, rejuvenating holiday.
The Woodstock Haven was constructed using green building techniques. We have passive solar, radiant heat, and an on-demand water heater that never runs out. We use all organic cleansers, soaps, and VOC-free paints.
So come on in. Take a look around. Click through the photo galleries on each page and get to know us better. We hope you’ll make our home your haven.
